What makes us distinctive in Christian Montessori education
Christian Montessori education is a journey alongside the child.
As we prepare to open the children's minds to who God is that they may be like Him, we will be confronted with the reality of where we are on that journey. As we prepare to share the world and all created things with children from the heart of The Creator, we also go on a journey of discovery.
As we prepare to nurture the child's psycho-social development along the lines of Montessori principles, we will confront our own inner lives—soul injuries and prejudices. It is why Maria Montessori says:
"The first essential is that the teacher should go through an inner, spiritual preparation-cultivate certain aptitudes in the moral order. This is the most difficult part of her training, without which all the rest is of no avail."
Educator preparation then becomes a journey of intellectual, emotional, and spiritual growth. Vineyard Institute's courses are delivered in an atmosphere of fellowship and prayer with fellow travelers, and this offers us a wonderful transformational experience.
